October is breast cancer awareness month and so many of us use this month to promote the importance of getting our annual mammogram and self examination!

I have to emphasize how important this is all year!!!!!!

I lost my favorite person in the whole wide world to this ugly disease called breast cancer.  My mom!!!!

I'm not trying to scare you!!!!!!!!! I'm trying to make you aware!!!!!!

I watched this thing take my mothers breast!  I watched this thing eat a deep hole in her chest.

If you can imagine a wide open bloody wound on your chest that smelled like the scent of death oozing fluid and blood you would know how important it is to get checked!!!!!!  If you could imagine the strongest woman you know turning in to a weak frail little old bald headed lady who could barley walk, talk or breathe you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine changing your moms diaper, feeding her like and infant watching her suffer and no amount of pain killers would help you would know how important it is to get checked!!  If you could imagine a grandson scared of what his grandma has become you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine being up 24 hours a day taking care of your loved one because you're afraid to go to sleep because it may be your last moment seeing them alive you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine the worst pain and suffering you could imagine you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine a doctor walking in the room saying there is nothing else we can do and seeing the fear on your loved ones face you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you can imagine your mom's face full of fear saying I'm going to die you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine knowing you are dying you would know how important it is to get checked.  If you could imagine a daughter's hurt break in half you would know how important it is to get checked. If you can imagine seeing your mother in a coffin you would know how important it is to get checked!!!!!!!!!!!

I will never forget her smile.  I will never forget her hands.  I will never forget the scent of her perfume.

It hurts me from time to time because I forget what her voice sounded like.  It hurts me from time to time because where is home when storms in your life are going on when your mom is gone.  It hurts me from time to time because she never got to meet my last son.  It hurts me from time to time because nobody will ever love me, check on me,
cheer for me, hold me or console me like she did.

The most import thing is early detection and early treatment.  You can survive.  You can beat this thing.  You can win if you don't let the fear of knowing consume you.   Go get your mammogram!!!!!! Learn how to do self exams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Know your family history!!!!!!  If we know we can fight together and win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Please don't leave someone like me behind to survive without you.

 It's hard with out you mommy but I'm a SURVIVOR!!!!!!!!!

    • Romans 8:31-39New International Version (NIV)

      More Than Conquerors

      31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
      “For your sake we face death all day long;
          we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[a]
      37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future,nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
